Australian peaches and nectarines bound for Vietnam

On February 14, 2022 the Plant Export Operations Branch of the Australian Department of Agricultture, Water and the Environment  announced that market access has been granted for Australian peaches and nectarines to Vietnam. A protocol of phytosanitary requirements for the export of peaches and nectarines from Australia to Vietnam has been published in the Manual of Importing Country Requirements (Micor).

Fruits sourced from where systems approach has not been applied to control oriental fruit moth (Grapholita molesta) and codling moth (Cydia pomonella) the fruits must be irradiatied at a minimum dose of 200 Gray (can be irradiated to treat for all fruits flies).
Fruits sourced from where systems approach has been applied to control oriental fruit moth (Grapholita molesta) and codling moth (Cydia pomonella) can be irradiated at a minimum dose of 150 Gray. The maximum absorbed dose must not exceed 1 kilogray. Consignment treated with irradiation must be labelled with the RADURA symbol.

This is the result of a close cooperation with Summerfruit Australia Ltd the peak industry body and other stakeholders. Since it is now late in the season limited trade is expected for thos campaign but applications for accreditation will be open to the broader industry in June 2022 for the 2022–23 export season.
